Clay base below 1ft heavy soil/Lancaster/United Kingdom
Unknown; Thick hollow stems, grows rapidly May-June (6ft+) Flowers July to black shinny seed pods late July-Aug. Acquired property 2 years ago have not been able to identify. Any advice or classification appreciated.

Himalayan honeysuckle, Leycesteria Formosa it is of the family Caprifoliaceae,a common name for it is Purple Rain

I have several of these growing at the bottom of our garden and was told they are Himalayan Honeysuckle, also known as Pheasant Berry.

Above comments all correct - Himalayan Honeysuckle. Supposed to trim back to 6" every spring but mine is about 10 feet tall..... oops

Its some sort of sage, possibly a type of blackcurrent sage

Will only be sage if the leaves smell - if blackcurrant sage you can't miss the aroma. No smell then not sage.
